Change LUBOA without water

The film wraps the whole ring and holds the contents. At each change you seal and remove the film itself, so the ring never touches the contents and does not need rinsing.

Why no water is needed

  1. The film wraps the ringA disposable film covers the whole ring, so the ring never touches the contents.
  2. Contents stay in the filmMenstrual fluid collects only inside the film pouch.
  3. Seal the film and disposeYou wrap and seal the film as you remove it, so there is nothing to empty or rinse.
The problem

A menstrual cup has to be emptied and rinsed at every change. Where clean water or a sink is hard to find, changing it becomes difficult.

The LUBOA way

LUBOA seals the used film and removes it, so no water is needed to change it.

Limited access to clean water

You can change it where a sink or clean water is hard to come by.

Public restrooms and travel

Finish the change inside the stall, with nothing to empty or rinse.

Outdoors and emergencies

Use it when water is scarce, such as camping, hiking or emergencies.

Clean and sterilize the ring once after each cycle. There is no need to wash it at every change.

Product

A reusable silicone ring with a disposable film

A disposable film is fitted over a thin silicone ring that sits in the upper vagina (vaginal fornix). The film wraps the whole ring, so neither the ring nor your hands touch the contents, and only the film is thrown away.

Designed for long shifts and travel where changing is difficult. Only the part that becomes soiled is disposable film; the silicone ring that holds the shape is reused for up to two years.

No-touch change

Holding the outside of the film, the contents are sealed inside as it is removed. No rinsing is required.

Squeeze the rim to remove

Insert your thumb and index finger into the lower finger opening in the film. With both fingers enclosed by the film, grip the two sides of the grey rim itself, squeeze its opening narrower and withdraw it. The closed central film separates your fingers from the contents.

Adjustable capacity

Capacity can be adjusted by changing where the film is hooked onto the ring.

Up to 12 hours

Can be worn continuously for up to 12 hours, including during sleep.

Comparison

Compared with other period products

The key difference is removal and changing. A cup must be emptied and rinsed; with LUBOA you seal the film and throw it away. Maximum wear time is the same as a cup, and capacity is adjustable.

How to use

How to use

Wash your hands, fit the film to the ring, then squeeze the ring and insert it. To remove it, put your thumb and index finger through the lower opening, wrap the film around the whole disc and withdraw it with the ring held closed.

  1. 01Wash your handsWash with soap and dry. Keep nails short.
  2. 02Fit the filmPass the upper film opening through the lower ring, roll it outward around the rim, then join the upper ring. The film covers the outside of the assembled rim.
  3. 03Fold and insertSqueeze the ring in half and push it back toward your tailbone. Pushing straight up makes it catch.
  4. 04Tuck under the cervixOnce fully in, push the front rim up behind the pubic bone.
  1. 05Wrap, squeeze and removePut your thumb and index finger through the lower opening. Turn the lower film up around the whole upper pouch and ring, then squeeze the opposing rim edges through the film and withdraw slowly.
  2. 06Recover the ring and discard the filmKeep the pouch wrapped while using your other hand to separate the ring. Tie the used film closed and put it in general waste, never in the toilet.
  3. 07Sterilise after your cycleWhen your period ends, wash the ring, boil for 3–5 minutes and dry completely.
  4. 08Store in a breathable pouchUse a breathable pouch rather than an airtight container. Keep out of direct sunlight.

Removal and film replacement

  1. 01Enter through the lower openingPut only your thumb and index finger into the lower sleeve. Keep the other fingers and palm outside the film.
  2. 02Wrap the whole disc and squeezeTurn the lower film around the entire upper pouch and ring. Squeeze the opposing rim edges through the film and withdraw.
  3. 03Separate the reusable ringKeep the contents contained in the film while removing the reusable ring with your other hand.
  4. 04Discard only the used filmTie the separated film closed and put it in general waste. Keep the ring for reuse and do not flush the film.

When to stop using it — If fever, vomiting, rash or dizziness appear together, remove it immediately and seek medical care. Insertable period products can rarely be associated with toxic shock syndrome (TSS). This page is product guidance, not medical advice.

No-touch

An easy change with no washing

Wrap the whole disc in the lower sleeve film, then squeeze the ring through the film and withdraw. Keep it wrapped while separating the ring, then tie the used film and put it in general waste.

You don't rinse the ring at each change. Once your period ends, wash it, boil for 3–5 minutes and store.

  1. 01Wrap and remove the whole disc

  2. 02Separate the reusable ring

  3. 03Tie the used film and put it in general waste

Capacity

Capacity set by film length

Hook the film further down. Where you hook it changes the pouch length and the capacity. No need to buy another size.

A longer pouch doesn't extend wear time. The maximum is still 12 hours. Try standard for your first cycle and go long only on heavy days.

Size guide

Choosing your size

Choose by cervix height. If your index finger reaches your cervix within the first knuckle, choose S; if you need to go past the second knuckle, choose M.

SWithin the first knuckle (about 5 cm)
Ring diameter
5 cm
Best for
Lower cervix · first time using an insertable product
MPast the second knuckle (about 7 cm)
Ring diameter
7 cm
Best for
Higher cervix · after childbirth

How to measure cervix height

Pelvic cross-section showing an index finger reaching the cervix, with the knuckles used to judge the depth
  1. 01

Wash your hands, squat and slowly insert your index finger.

  2. 02

The cervix feels firm, like the tip of your nose, with a small dip in the middle.

  3. 03

Cervix height changes through the cycle and is often lower during menstruation, so measure during your period, when you will use the disc.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Films are single-use. Never wash and reuse a film; only the ring is reused.

The recommended lifespan is two years. Replace it sooner if the surface becomes sticky, torn, discolored or smells.

It rests in the vaginal fornix, so there's no suction. If you have an IUD, check with the clinic that placed it first, and take care not to pull the IUD strings when inserting or removing.

Yes. It's worn internally, so you can use it in water and while running, doing yoga or swimming.

It's all done inside the stall. Peel off the film, fit a new one and reinsert. No trip to the sink and nothing on your hands.

Put your thumb and index finger through the lower opening, wrap the film around the entire disc, then squeeze the opposing rim edges and withdraw slowly. Keep the contents contained while separating the ring and used film.

The film folds over the outside of the ring, so the ring surface stays covered. If the film tears or lifts, wash the ring before reusing it.

Tie the peeled film closed and put it in general waste. Flushing it can block the toilet.

It's common the first few times, usually for one of three reasons: the ring sits beside the cervix instead of below it, the size doesn't fit, or it filled before 12 hours. Run a finger around the rim to check the cervix is inside the ring, and hook the film longer on heavy days.
